N Scale is the smallest popular scale, with less popular scales of Z & T Scales being smaller. N Scale is one of the most popular scales as there are a lot of possibilities with the space available. If you are just getting started in model railroading and do not have much space, N Scale may be for you. Our Club has changed to a T-Trak standard of modular layouts. That way we can have layouts at home and bring modules to shows or events. There is a great deal of flexibility for the design of the modules. Club member Charlie H. has made modules for many members as well as for members of the community. We can help you get started no matter what kind of ability you have.
At about half the size of HO, N Scale is generally 1:160 in the US, although may range from 1:148 to 1:160. The gauge (distance between the rails) is 9 mm or 0.354 inches for all variations.
